2019 MICE Destination Marketing Contest Information Brochure

The 2019 MICE Destination Marketing Contest provides a unique opportunity for younger generations worldwide to practice and exercise innovative ideas for the MICE industry. Hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (also known as TAITRA), the MICE Destination Marketing Contest combines with the Marketing Plan, Marketing Presentation and Booth Marketing competition. The students are encouraged to use their MICE industry knowledge, skills and creativity to market their cities.

 

  1. Date: Sep. 17-19, 2019
  2. Venue: Taipei International Convention Center, Taiwan
  3. Theme: Bidding for Society for incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Global Conference

(4) Registration Deadline: May 31, 2019

(5) Registration Fee: 700 USD/team. Paid only when the registration is approved.

 

Eligible Participants:

  1. Minimum number of team members: 2/per team.

* Marketing Presentation and Booth Marketing competition will be overlapped. Please make sure a representative is at your booth all the time to greet visitors.

**Multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged.

(2)    Max 2 participating teams per country. If more than 2 teams register from one country, we will evaluate according to the following standard to select the approved teams:

Application Process:

Participating teams should submit the registration form (as attached) and the following documents to the designated email address (yin@taitra.org.tw), or by hard copy to the following address: Room 2B22, No. 5, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Xinyi District, Taipei Taiwan before May 31, 2019

  1. List of team members and team leader (Name and contact info of each member)
  2. Introduction of your destination city
  3. History records of attendance to International MICE contest
  4. 1-minute video introduction of your team/destination

 

Notice of Approval:

The Registration results will be announced on 2019/ 6/ 15. The approved team should submit the registration fee before 2019/ 6/ 29 to finish the application process.

 

Contest Program:

  1. Marketing and Planning proposal
  1. Each team should make a proposal according to the Request for Proposal SITE Global Conference. Within 2 A4 pages and written in English.
  2. The result of the competition will not resemble the actual SITE Global Conference.
  1. Marketing Presentation Contest
  1. Each team should conduct a 5-minute English presentation and 2-minute Q & A session.
  2. All contestants should wear suits or school uniforms.
  1. Exhibition Contest

Each team should display their own Marketing Plan for bidding for the SITE Global Conference.

*TAITRA will subsidize each team based on incurred costs with a ceiling of NT$12,000, for decoration and marketing, as well as offer two free booths (3m x 2m x 2.5m each), the total dimensions of which are 6m x 2m x 2.5m(h) with 1,000 watts (110V) of electricity power supply for each team. The standard shell scheme basic facilities are provided upon request.

Description

Marketing plan Award

1st place team will be awarded 30,000 NTD and a trophy

2nd Place team will be awarded 20,000 NTD and a certificate.

3rd place will be awarded 10,000 NTD and a certificate.

Merit award (2 teams) will be awarded 5,000 NTD and a certificate.

*For each category, the first prize goes to the team with the highest final score resulting from adding up all of the judges' individual scores, and so forth. Tied teams will be ranked according to the rank given by judges. The lowest ranking numbers get the first prize.

English Presentation Award

Best Reception award

The winning team will be awarded 5,000 NTD and a certificate.

MICE Sustainability Award

The winning team will be awarded 5,000 NTD and a certificate.

Booth Design Award

The winning team will be awarded 5,000 NTD and a certificate.

Star of MICE Award

1 international winning team and 1 Taiwanese winning team

Judged by visitors and participating teams. The team with the highest score will be awarded 5,000 NTD and a certificate.

Jury Prize

Individual prize at the discretion of the judges. The winner(s) will be awarded 2,000 NTD and a certificate.

*The award ceremony is on the last day of competition.

 

Subsidy:

  1. Decoration Fee Subsidy:
  1. Every team is subsidized with a maximum of 12,000 NTD
  2. The schools should provide us with the related billing list, invoice, photos and recipient account information within 10 days after the exhibition ends. (the Tax ID 03702716 should be on the invoices if the invoice is issued from Taiwan) 
  1. Accommodation Subsidy:
  1. Based on the appointed location, with a maximum amount of 7 persons’ stay.
  2. Quad room. Rooms will be organized by TAITRA. Male and female will be separated. Students and teachers of different nationalities may be assigned to one room.
  3. The deadline of accommodation application is Aug 31st. It is not possible to modify or cancel the application under any circumstances after this date. If you simply do not check-in, you will still be charged with the accommodation fee.

 

  1. Air ticket subsidy:

Maximum 7 team members (includes 1 teacher/team leader)

  1. Maximum of 1,600 USD for Asia-Pacific teams
  2. Maximum of 3,000 USD for European or American teams

 

Note

  1. The participants should agree that all data/ media records received from participants are free for TAITRA to use, copy, modify, or display in public for publication or educational purposes.
  2. All participating teams MUST attend the exchange activities held by TAITRA.
  3. Winners of the award should abide by the tax regulations and TAITRA policy to receive the prize. According to tax laws and regulations of the ROC, the tax on prize money won by foreign country residents of foreign countries is 20%.
  4. Participants should make sure that they own the copyrights to all the images, music, or any form of media they use. Participating teams should acknowledge that all the work or outcome during the contest must be legitimate. TAITRA is not held responsible if there is any violation of the lawful rights of third parties.
  5. If any participating team is reported with the possibility of legal dispute, TAITRA has the right to cancel the qualification/ forbid the participating teams to join the contest/ retrieve all subsidies for the participating team.
  6. TAITRA has the right to use all work and outcome of the contest for any form of publication, including but not limited to publications, video, livestreams, webcasts, or photos.
  7. For any other commercial purpose, TAITRA will sign related authorization documents separately.
